Anti-Spam Policy

1. Permission-Based Email Only
We only send email to recipients who have explicitly opted in to receive our communications. Our mailing list is built exclusively through:
- Website subscription forms — Users voluntarily enter their email address and click "Subscribe" on our website
- Confirmed opt-in — We use a double opt-in process where subscribers must confirm their email address before receiving any newsletters
- Clear consent — At the point of collection, we clearly state what the subscriber will receive and how often
2. What We Never Do
- We never purchase, rent, or harvest email lists
- We never use scraped or third-party email addresses
- We never send unsolicited commercial emails
- We never use deceptive subject lines or misleading headers
- We never disguise the origin of our emails
- We never share, sell, or trade subscriber email addresses with third parties for marketing purposes
3. Every Email Includes
In compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act and international regulations, every email we send includes:
- Clear sender identification — Our name "Two Glasses Later" and a valid reply-to address
- Physical mailing address — Our registered business address
- One-click unsubscribe link — A clearly visible, functional unsubscribe mechanism in every email
- List-Unsubscribe header — Machine-readable unsubscribe header for email clients that support it (RFC 2369 / RFC 8058)
- Honest subject lines — Subject lines that accurately reflect the content of the message
4. Unsubscribe Processing
We honor all unsubscribe requests promptly:
- Unsubscribe requests are processed immediately (within seconds of clicking)
- We never require additional steps, login credentials, or fees to unsubscribe
- Once unsubscribed, an email address is permanently added to our suppression list
- We never re-add unsubscribed addresses to any mailing list
5. Bounce and Complaint Handling
We maintain rigorous list hygiene:
- Hard bounces are permanently removed from our mailing list after the first occurrence
- Soft bounces are retried up to 3 times, then permanently removed
- Spam complaints (via ISP feedback loops) result in immediate, permanent removal
- We regularly clean our lists to remove inactive or invalid addresses
- We maintain an internal suppression list of all addresses that have bounced, complained, or unsubscribed
6. Email Authentication
We implement industry-standard email authentication to prevent spoofing and protect our recipients:
- SPF (Sender Policy Framework) — Published DNS records authorizing our sending servers
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) — Cryptographic signatures on all outgoing email
- DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) — Published policy set to "quarantine" with 100% coverage
- Reverse DNS (PTR) — Properly configured on all sending IP addresses
7. Types of Email We Send
We send only the following categories of email:
- Weekly newsletter — Our editorial content, including articles, health research summaries, and personal stories related to alcohol and wellness after 40
- Transactional emails — Subscription confirmations, unsubscribe confirmations, and account-related notices
- Occasional announcements — Major site updates or new content series (no more than 1-2 per month beyond the weekly newsletter)
8. Sending Volume and Frequency
- Our newsletter is sent once per week (typically Wednesdays)
- We never send more than 3 emails per week to any subscriber
- We respect frequency preferences if offered to subscribers
9. Infrastructure and Compliance
Our email infrastructure is designed for compliance and deliverability:
- We use dedicated IP addresses with proper warm-up procedures
- Our sending servers are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with full reverse DNS configuration
- We monitor blacklists and take immediate corrective action if listed
- We maintain sending rate limits to respect ISP throttling policies
10. Legal Compliance
Two Glasses Later complies with:
- CAN-SPAM Act (United States, 2003)
- GDPR (European Union General Data Protection Regulation)
- CASL (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation)
- PECR (UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations)

11. Reporting Spam
If you believe you have received an unsolicited email from us, or if someone is sending spam using our name or domain, please report it immediately:
